Our Team

DK Kearsey

Our English Muffin David Kenneth (DK) is a big, excitable bear of a man. With a background in Professional Rugby, he feels very much at home when coaching CrossFit. Having a community that challenges you and wants you to succeed beyond your own limits is the part that makes this work. Coaching allows me to take my focus off myself and focus on what is really important. When I am coaching, it is all about the athletes. Getting to connect with people on their level every day is what makes our job so special. I am incredibly grateful for the people that allow me to do what I love.

Since as long as I can remember I’ve had a love for all things sports, fitness and competition. I grew up playing any sport I could, with many years of competitive hockey and soccer. After a few too many bumps to the head, I had to take a step back from the competitive sport world and focus on my nursing career. While playing various recreational sports as an adult and going to commercial gyms, I had never really felt satisfied in my sport and fitness endeavors… until I joined CrossFit Muskoka. I fell in love with the sport of CrossFit instantly and haven’t looked back. Just over 2 years in and I am so l honored to be able to coach this incredible sport to an even better community. Between coaching and nursing I’m so excited to be able to work with people on all ends of the health and wellness spectrum and share my passion for CrossFit.

When I joined CrossFit in 2024, I never expected to get instantly hooked on it. After years of playing competitive soccer and being active, I got to a place where I was unhappy with my fitness and decided it was time to get back in shape. The CFM community welcomed me with open arms, and with the help of our amazing coaches, I am in the best shape of my life and continue to better myself every day.

Now being a full-fledged kool-aid drinker, I am excited to coach others on their fitness journey. Whether they're starting out from scratch or working to get that first muscle up, I'm ready to help others push their limits and celebrate the wins.

Growing up I was heavily involved in playing team sports (mostly rugby, hockey and football). Being an athlete, training was always a top priority for me to perform at my best and something I have always been incredibly passionate about. When I finished my competitive sporting career I found I was lost and the identity I had, faded. That is when I found CrossFit, and coaching.

CrossFit's foundational principles have allowed me to my focus on bettering my own health while helping others achieve their goals at the same time. The team like culture that CrossFit classes have, help athletes and coaches come together to be better together.

I joined CrossFit in 2020 and have never looked back since. CrossFit for me is more than just a place to go to do fitness rather it is a place with community as its core foundation. CrossFit has allowed me to push boundaries and goals, unlike any other program with the mantra of always pushing myself to do hard things and I know you can too!

I joined CrossFit Muskoka two years ago, after having spent a few years dabbling in functional fitness many years as a high-level swimmer both in my youth, and as a masters athlete. Ifound an amazing community and a learning environment I had never experienced in my years of coaching, and as an athlete.

After 18 years of coaching multiple sports, I was sure my time in the coaching world was done and it was time to just enjoy working out. To my surprise, the moment I started coaching again I realized how much fun it was to help, motivate and teach people once more!

I love the CrossFit community and the variety of types and intensities of workouts!

When I first joined CrossFit Muskoka, I loved the community that encouraged and challenged each other to grow. I am a former provincial-level competitive artistic gymnast and have done many other sports, but I have found my home at CFM. CrossFit has helped me gain the strength to enjoy and improve in the art of aerial hoop. I am grateful for the community that helps me continue to grow as an athlete and a coach.
