CrossFit Muskoka is hosting two FREE seminars next week to address the two most frequent queries we receive, namely;
a) "Why the hell do you guys train so differently?"
and
b) "What the hell should I eat?!?"
The short answers are;
a) Because we have taken the time to define exactly what fitness actually is (and what it is not). This drives our programming and methodology and allows us to deliver unprecedented and incomparable results.
and
b) Most likely not what everyone else is telling you!
These seminars are FREE and open to ANYONE!

"What is Fitness?"
Date/time: Wednesday, November 25 6:30 pm
Cost: FREE
It is our contention that promoting, selling or pursuing a "fitness" program without defining (in detail) what "fitness" actually is, is ineffective at best, irresponsible at worst.
We will define (in detail, of course!) what we consider "fitness" to be and then offer our prescription (one that can in theory be implemented for free at home or in a typical commercial gym) for pursuing such a condition in the safest, most efficient and effective manner we have discovered.
You will learn;
- Why we do NOT consider competitive triathletes or powerlifters (for example) to be 'fit'
- Why blurring the line between 'strength' and 'cardio' is absolutely critical
- The 10 factors that will influence your performance
- Why variety is key to a program
- Why traditional 'aerobics'/'cardio' classes and conventional 'strength' training approaches are inadequate
- The difference between G.P.P. and the S.S.T. often promoted to the general public
- Why 'health' and 'fitness' should NOT (and need not) be differentiated between
- Why we do NOT 'do' cardio, legs, abs or swiss ball training (among other things)
- Why we do 'do' Gymnastics and Oly. Weightlifting (among other things)
- Why pursuing aesthetics will not necessarily improve fitness, but the inverse situation will likely be successful
- What 'core strength' really is and the best way to develop it
- Why technique and intensity are not necessarily at odds and how to balance them
- Why 'perfect' form MUST NOT be maintained if you want to become more 'fit'
- How hard to hit your workouts to see maximal benefit
- What Intensity really is and why it's the variable to keep our eyes on
- Why V02 max, blood lactate onset, etc are, at BEST, weak correlates to identifying fitness
- The three components you MUST add to your program if you want to be 'fit'
- How CrossFit is adapted and implemented for individuals of various fitness levels
- What a 'functional movement' actually is.. and what it is not
